UncategorizedMerry Xmas – My Top 5 Interior Design Shows For The Holidays

December 20, 2022by cheree0

Only a couple more sleeps until the big day arrives.  It’s hard to believe another year of change and uncertainty for many is drawing to a close. I hope you can hit the pause button with your family, eat some delicious food, and enjoy a good show or two.  If you need some T.V inspiration over your break, here are my top five Interior Design shows for 2022.

Ranked in Order – Top Interior Design Shows 2022:

  1. Designing Miami – Netflix
  2. Dream Makeover – Netflix
  3. Rock the Block – Three Now (T.V on Demand)
  4. Fixer Upper – Three Now (T.V on Demand)
  5. Windy Rehab – Three Now (T.V on Demand)

1. Designing Miami

To be honest, I’m surprised at how much I loved this show because their aesthetics are completely different from mine.  However, the relationship between this Latino power couple from South Florida is so intriguing I could not put the remote down! The show is twisty because they both run their own successful design firms and often compete for the same design contracts.  All this while they design their own dream home.  If you ever wanted to see how a design business operates behind the scenes, this is a show to watch!

2. Dream Makeover

Originally from California, the McGees sold their family home to set up their design business in Utah.  Syd and Shea McGee are the perfect storm.  He is an I.T wiz in the background, and she produces the drool-worthy makeovers.  I’ve been following their business for years, and there has not been one room she has designed I haven’t salivated over.  Their life, house, and family are so dreamy you won’t be surprised this show was up for an Emmy this year.  Plus, they both have the best white teeth you have ever seen! 🙂

3. Rock The Block

I’ve posted about this show on social media multiple times.  HGTV has pulled the best designers from their channel to compete for the title.  The budgets are huge, the houses are massive, and the personalities are even bigger! It’s the “Top Gun” of all design shows, where the best of the best come to fight it out!

4. Fixer-Upper

It’s hard to believe I have relegated this show to the fourth position.  I was utterly obsessed with Joanna and Chip 10 years ago.  In fact, Paul and I were seriously saving for a trip to Waco, Texas (of all places) to visit their design store.  They are a Yin and Yang renovation duo.  She is the serious and clever designer, while he is the Larrrikin on the tools.  Fixer-Upper was such a runaway success in the U.S they now have their own T.V channel, The Magnolia Network.

5. Windy City Rehab

Alison Victoria is a designer from Chicago, Illinois.  In my humble opinion, she is presently one of the best kitchen and bathroom designers on T.V.  She spares no expense when completing her rooms, even if she makes a loss on the design-build.  The show documents her business highs and lows, from her business partner shuffling the profits to his account, to the stress of missing deadlines.  Her smart, no-nonsense approach keeps the show honest, and as we know, folks, not all reality T.V is real!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you enjoy my top five recommendations.

Please stay safe (and sane) over the holidays, and I look forward to reconnecting with you all in 2023!
