ExteriorLet the Grass Grow

April 30, 2021by cheree2

Today, I’m sitting on our dumpy couch watching the light Autumn rain dust the trees and wondering where did April go? And more importantly, what did we exactly achieve around the house? If you thought the garage reveal was slightly underwhelming, then you might need to get your pillow set for this post because it’s all about the grass and watching it grow.

Yes, our veggie patch is now complete, and the irony is there is not one salad leaf in sight. In the end, we decided that we didn’t want to look down on our broccoli, that we would save that idea for our dream two-acre lifestyle block. While we wait for our long overdue lotto numbers to roll up, the grass seed has been planted and covered, just in case the neighbour’s cats want to use this as a giant litter box!

Here is Paul unraveling the grass seedling patch for the first time.

Every day we fling back the cover to see how much our babies are growing. It is mesmerising!

While I’m still in a trance watching the grass grow, Paul is busy beefing up the metal poles holding up our house. He will box them out with wood and paint them Alabaster Resene White to match the house.

Over the long Anzac weekend, I spent some time looking over old photos. I was stunned when I came across this one. I am so impressed with what Paul has achieved at the front of the house.

As the days get cooler and the nights get darker, we are already figuring out our next indoor project. It’s a toss-up between the sunroom and my study room. If we do the sunroom, we will have to address the configuration and style of the windows in the house. I’m not sure if the budget and we are mentally ready for this kind of hit, plus I’m spending a lot more time on the computer these days, so it would be nice to have a beautiful space to create our design plans.

We also agree that this room would be a much easier project to complete because of the size and lack of build work needed to overhaul this space. I have already been sizing up some wallpaper and paint ideas. My knees start knocking with excitement when I see wallpaper like this!

See you all next month with a project update!
